An urban girl with a Southern heart and Eastern roots, Nita’s earthy, soothing voice and poetic songs will remind audiences of Sara Bareilles, Tori Amos, and early Norah Jones.

Born in Mississipi and raised just outside of Washington, DC, Nita began her musical journey at the age of 3, singing Hindi songs with her parents and older sister. After years of classical piano training and acoustic guitar, her first teenage heartbreak inspired her to begin songwriting. In 2007 she started off small, performing at the local Borders bookstore in her hometown (Germantown, MD).

Since then, Nita's gypsy spirit has taken her to many venues around the country and the world such as venues in D.C. (The Lincoln Theatre, Rock and Roll Hotel, Hard Rock Cafe),  New York City (National Underground, The Living Room), Los Angeles (Room Five, The Fox and Hounds), and even international venues like Ronnie Scott's in London, UK.

Nita's latest single, "Set You Free", is the kind of song you can drive down the PCH with, windows rolled down. Created together with producer/guitarist Mateo Sol in L.A., Set You Free was released through Indie label White Lion Audio/Sony's The Orchard distribution in April 2020. She is releasing a heart-felt ballad styled remix of "Set You Free" this summer.

Stay tuned for new music this Fall, including a stripped-down acoustic song called "Cross The Line" which will be featured on Women of Substance's "Music With A Conscience Series" this fall.
